day 5

  1. Drive by Saint Mary Lake

    • This is another day to wake up early; the drive is long, but so worth it.

    • If you followed our 3-day itinerary, this will be your second time driving the Going-to-the-Sun Road. The more you go, the better it gets!

    • After Logan's Pass, you will drive by Saint Mary Lake. Stop here for stunning views of Wild Goose Island, one of the most picturesque spots in all of Glacier.

  2. Hike to Iceberg Lake

    • Continue the drive to Many Glacier, but don't stop yet at the famed hotel. You'll return here for dinner

    • Drive a few minutes past Many Glacier Hotel to the Iceberg Lake trailhead behind the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn.

    • This stunning half-day hike is just under 10 miles roundtrip.

  3. Eat dinner at Many Glacier Hotel

    • There's no better end to a day in the mountains than a meal in one of Glacier's most historic chalets.

    • The Ptarmigan Dining Room offers delicious continental fare and stunning views of Swiftcurrent Lake.

  4. Return to the Cabins at Hay Creek or stay the night in Many Glacier.

    • It's about a three hour drive back to the Cabins at Hay Creek. If you're up for it, come on back for a good night's rest.

    • If you don't think you're up for the drive, make a one-night reservation at the Many Glacier Hotel or the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn.

glacier on horseback

  1. Saddle up for the ride of your life

    • You haven't seen Glacier until you've seen it on horseback.

    • Join the Swan Mountain Outfitters for a half- or full-day ride.

    • No experience required. New cowboys are more than welcome.

  2. Relax back in Polebridge.

    • You've earned an afternoon or evening of relaxation.

    • Wander the property surrounding your cabin. There are forests, fields, and even a creek.

    • Drive or walk to the Mercantile for a snack or to the Northern Lights Saloon for a drink.

    • Don't feel like going out? Your cabin has a deck, and that deck has a grill. Cook up something tasty. Kick back and watch night fall over the snow-capped mountains.

  3. Stargaze.

    • On clear nights in Polebridge, the stars look close enough to touch. â€‹

    • Sit on your deck and soak in the view.

Thank you for staying with us! We hope you come again.
